For almost two decades, Reza and Isabelle Akhavan have shared a deep passion for collecting art, driven by curiosity, dedication, and a great appreciation for artistic expression. Their collecting activities began with a fascination for Viennese Actionism – a radical and groundbreaking art movement that questioned social conventions, explored the boundaries of physicality and materiality, and profoundly changed post-war art. With their collection, Reza and Isabelle Akhavan aim to preserve and make accessible works that embody the intensity, innovative power, and uncompromising spirit of this extraordinary artistic movement.

The collection is presented in the historic Ferdinandsaal at Mittersteig 15 – a place whose unique architecture and special atmosphere form an essential part of the overall experience. Reza and Isabelle Akhavan are particularly keen to create a harmonious connection between the artworks, the historical character of the premises, and the architectural qualities of the location. By carefully preserving and respectfully treating the rooms, they want to retain the authenticity and the special spirit of this extraordinary place for future generations.
